MTN Uganda through its corporate entity – MTN Foundation yesterday 14th.02.2023 unveiled a master program geared toward skilling over 160 youth picked from different districts in Uganda.
The training has been categorized in three sections mainly focusing on digital skilling through the certification of ICDL, Tech innovations and business incubation.
While speaking to the qualified participants that will be undergoing training in various fields, Brian Mbasa, the senior manager at MTN Foundation said it’s time the youth took up the golden chance as provided by MTN Foundation to skill and upskill themselves with relevant skills needed in today’s labour market.
The partnership between MTN and ICDL stems way back in time. The first cohort of the youth digital literacy skilling was spearheaded by an ICDL accredited Test center located in the central region called Orchard International Christian school, the second cohort was supervised by Ubunifu systems (an accredited training agency) and this year the training will be spearheaded by Engage consults.
In digital skills training, the participants will undertake studies in ICDL modules like Computer & Online Essential, Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentation, Digital marketing, Ecommerce, Website design among others.
The MTN Foundation is said to have prepared large sums of money to cater for the youth skilling projects in Uganda. The foundation believes empowering the youth today is one way of changing communities and uplifting standards of living through creation of jobs and innovations.
