ICDL Students at Shoma Christian Academy preparing for the Graduation

Tension filled with excitement and joy is raising high among the students undertaking various modules at Shoma Christian Academy in Ntinda-Kampala

During the visit at the school to check on the progress of learning and content delivery at the centre, the ICDL Africa representative in Uganda, Dan Muhenda discovered the students were over joyed for having completed successfully five (5) modules so far and have embarked on the last two to make a total of seven (7) modules which the ACE/ICCE curriculum requires them to complete so as to acquire the O’level (general) certificate.

While speaking to ICDL team shortly after their first lesson in IT security, one of the students revealed how having ICDL at their school has been more than a blessing. The students revealed how most of the technical support that his school has been struggling with he can now have them fixed in a blink of an eye.

“My friend used to complain of his phone and laptop developing technical problems like freezing that I have since taught him how to have them all fixed by himself.  I am now like a ‘computer expert’ of sorts. It has really been exciting experience for me. I have learnt so much in ICDL that I didn’t even know existed,” revealed Dunstan .

One Busigye while talking about how valuable ICDL has been to him had this to say;

“Personally, I have learnt about computer essentials, hardware and software. I now know how to use word processing, excel, power point and how to use web browsing applications a lot better than I used to.”

The Shoma Christian Academy ICDL trainer, Sembajjwe Mesusera revealed how glad he is to have a class that appreciates technology but also the school for signing up ICDL so as to become an accredited Test Center (ATC).

“It’s a great experience and privilege for me as a trainer seeing students yet to be certified internationally with digital skills that are measured to the world standard.ICDL has equipped us with the skills for tomorrow that every individual needs in the twenty first century,”
