ICDL Africa team in Tanzania office organized an ATC forum 2019 in Dar es Salaam. The well attended event brought together representatives from government, private sector, active ATC’s and potential partners. The key focus of the event was to discuss the importance of Digital skills for employability and productivity and role of ICDL partners in addressing challenges of the digital skills gap in Tanzanian workforce.
During the highly interactive group and panel discussions event, Peter Maina, the Programme Manager from ICDL Africa spoke passionately about the ICDL programme and new changes. ICDL Launch of the New Brand was part of the activities.
Dr.Omar S.Ali, the Director of ICT from the Ministry of Education – Zanzibar addressed the delegates on the urgent need of digital skills adoption and benefits that comes with ICT certification. He was interested and keen to have ICDL programme to be offered in Zanzibar.
The successful event was a great milestone for the adoption of the ICDL digital skills standard for both the academia, public and private sector workforce in Tanzania. Over 5 potential partners expressed desire to join ICDL in 2020. The potential partners include Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) , Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) , Christian Social Services Commission , Maendeleo Bank and Ministry of Education & Vocational Training – Zanzibar.
