Alliance High School becomes Kenya’s First National Public Secondary School to adopt ICDL

In the heart of Nairobi Kenya, a significant milestone in digital education was reached as ICDL Africa was invited to issue ICDL ATC (Accredited Test Center) certificate at The Alliance High School. The occasion symbolized the dawn of a transformative journey in this esteemed national public school’s pursuit of digital excellence.

The Alliance High School, renowned for its rich history and commitment to academic excellence, etched its name in history as the pioneer national public secondary school in Kenya to introduce the International Certification in Digital Literacy (ICDL) into its curriculum. With a student population of 1,800 and expectations of growth to over 2,000 in the near future, the school has taken a remarkable step towards equipping its students with essential digital skills.

In a compelling address to the student body, the Chief Principal, Mr. Kamau, underscored the critical need for digital skills in today’s rapidly evolving world. He proudly declared Alliance High School’s association with an international digital skills certification body as it embarks on a mission to produce globally competitive students. His optimism shines through as he anticipates that parents will eagerly enroll their children in the ICDL program, recognizing the immense value it holds for their future. As an integral component of Alliance High School’s visionary 5-year strategic plan spanning from 2023 to 2027, one of their fundamental pillars is to emerge as a leader of digital literacy. In pursuit of this ambitious goal, ICDL Africa has emerged as a pivotal partner, offering international certification in digital skills. Furthermore, this partnership has reached a significant milestone with the formal recognition of Alliance High School as an ICDL Accredited Test Centre (ATC).

However, the Chief Principal’s vision extends beyond mere enrollment; his goal is nothing short of inspiring. He aims to certify a minimum of 1,000 students by the following year. This aspiration not only demonstrates unwavering commitment but also reflects the transformative power of digital literacy in shaping the future of education.

The commitment to digital literacy is not confined to the students alone. Following the inspiring student assembly, the teaching staff were informed that they would be instrumental in making Alliance High School stand out as a beacon of digital education excellence in Kenya and the wider region. The response was nothing short of enthusiastic, with the teaching staff eager to embrace the responsibility of owning the ICDL program.

The journey embarked upon by The Alliance High School is a testament to the power of education to transform lives. It highlights the school’s dedication to preparing its students for a future where digital skills are indispensable. By becoming the first national public secondary school in Kenya to introduce ICDL, Alliance High School is setting a high standard for digital literacy in the nation.

The anticipated certification of 1,800 students is not just a number; it represents 1,800 young minds who will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an increasingly digital world. It symbolizes the commitment of educators, parents, and students alike to stay ahead of the curve in the digital era.

As we celebrate this remarkable achievement at The Alliance High School, we look forward to witnessing the continued growth and success of its students. We extend our warmest congratulations to the Chief Principal, the dedicated teaching staff, and the entire school community for their vision and commitment to digital empowerment.

Together, we’re shaping a brighter future, one student, one teacher at a time, as we embark on this exciting journey of digital transformation.
