Insurance Industry CEOs in Uganda Endorse ICDL

On the 10th November 2017 a cross-section of CEOs from the Insurance Industry in Uganda met at a CEO's breakfast to discuss digital skills. The CEO's breakfast is a quarterly event organized by the Insurance Institute of Uganda which recently became an ICDL Accredited Test Centre. Over 50 CEOs attended the breakfast. Key atttendees included the CEO of the      Insurance Institute, The Chair Governance Council as well as a representative from the Insurance Regulatory Authority.

Michael Niyitegeka, the ICDL Country Manager for Uganda was the lead presenter at the breakfast talking digital skills for the 21st Century. He shared broadly the relevance of digital skills and more specificallly about standardizing the same. He introduced ICDL Compass and the value it presents to the organizations.

Overall the presentation was well received. It was resolved and guided by the representatives of the regulator that in the immediate term there was need to assess the skills gaps. That would enable the industry establish standards for the diffferent employee profiles. The Insurance Institute will take lead on this. It was also agreed that the Insurance Institute will immediately integrate ICDL in the currrent offering at diffferent levels and togetther with ICDL should work to get the programming in place before the end of the year.
