ICDL Train the Trainer (TTT) Kenya Edition

Wednesday, 5th April 2017 marked the beginning a 3-day Train the Trainer program in Kenya which attracted ICDL trainers from various ATCs in Kenya. The training was carried out at Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), an ICDL ATC in Nairobi. 17 participants attended the training that was facilitated by Peter Maina, Programme Implementation specialist at ICDL Africa with the Technical help of Technical Support Specialist, Ben Ochieng.

During his opening remarks, Peter Maina who was also the trainer of the 3-day training emphasized that ICDL trainers need to keep updating their knowledge and skills to ensure that they are always up to date with the current technology. He also talked about the newly launched ICT in Education module that will see existing trainers learn how to use ICT in delivery of content and also engage the leaners using various ICT resources. The training was meant to enable ICDL trainers gain more knowledge and sharpen their skills in the delivery of ICDL modules. The 3 day TTT ended on Friday 6th April 2017 with the ICDL team in Nairobi attending the closing ceremony.

ICDL Africa General Manager Mr. Etinick Mutinda thanked all the participants who attended the Training and encouraged them to invite their colleagues for the next TTT that will take place in September this year. Further in his speech, he said “ICDL has been changing lives over the past 20 years and it is our goal to ensure that it is more impactful by organizing for this kind of trainings to sharpen the skills of our trainers.”

Feedback from the participants indicated that they had greatly benefited especially with the coverage of the various best practices in ICDL content delivery. In the feedback forms, most of the participants portrayed Peter Maina as an exceptional trainer with a wealth of experience in ICDL.
