The Digital Ambassador Program is a new initiative to support Rwanda in increasing the number of digitally literate citizens and to transform young job seekers, helping them to deliver digital skills programs in their communities.
The initiative was launched on Monday, 20 February in Kigali, with guest of honour, the Honourable Jean Philbert Nsengimana, Rwanda's Minister of Youth and ICT, and Janet Longmore, Founder and CEO of Digital Opportunity Trust.
The Digital Ambassador Programme is a vision of supporting 5,000 young Rwandans to serve as Digital Ambassadors and transform the lives of 5,000,000 citizens through digital skills and adoption of e-services to drive digital inclusion and growth.
General Manager, Etinick Mutinda and Rwanda Country Manager, Solange Umulisa, represented ICDL Africa at the event. Partners and stakeholders from public and private sectors, as well as NGOs, attended the event. Notably, the Minster of Youth and ICT mentioned ICDL Africa as a key partner in Rwanda’s quest for a knowledge society.
